Photo Challenge Week 6 & 7

Well, I am finally caught up with just one to do for this week.  You really need to stay on top of it in order not to get frustrated and quit.  I really enjoy doing all the pages so I really had to take some time to do the pages.  Week 6 is a valentine theme and did take some time because of the removable heart card.

Week 6:  Be Mine Feb. 12th
This page really has a lot going on but cute none the less.  I decided that I wanted to include a mini valentine card that was to be kept in a pocket.  I just love pink so this was fun and the more sparkle the better!!  I spotted this cool picture when I was going to our storage unit.  It is a store across the street and just plain fun, so across the street I went and captured this picture for my challenge.

The little girl and boy are cut out from a scrapbook paper I got while shopping with my sister and Tania may recognize it from her heart box we did together.  I just wanted a little vintage to add and this was perfect. I added red glitter around the edge and stamped 'valentine' on it.

This is the back of the card, I wanted to add a sentiment as if it really was going to someone.  The card turned out so cute and looks great in it's pocket.

Week 7: Sand Dollar Feb. 19th
This is the day that I found a large sand dollar and was so excited about so I just had to include it in this challenge. It is simple but after doing last weeks it was a nice break.   I love cutting out portions of a photograph it just looks fun on the page and I really need to get creative since the pages aren't that big.    I need to find my cutter set also so I can do different shapes.  Blessings.

Quilt Shop Hop With My Sister

When my sister was visiting we spent a day just going to all the quilt shops that were within a hour of Savannah.  Our adventure brought us to 6 quilt shops and another one I visited yesterday making a total of 7 shops to venture to. Most of the shops were small and not worth taking pictures of except one Sew Much More.  So I will give you a little tour of the shops.

Cross Stitch Junction
33 Office Park Road
Hilton Head, SC
Cute on the inside but not much supply.  Love the window so colorful.

Creative Stitches
60B Robert Smalls Pkwy
Beaufort, SC
Not very inviting and not much on inside but we did run in to the shop owner of Sew Much More while we were here and got the address since we couldn't find it on the web so that was cool!

Granny's
1108 Argent Blvd.
Ridgeland, SC
This one was hard to find and we didn't give up until we had found it but when we did talk to the person working that day she said the one we were origanlly looking for Grannies Attic had closed this one just happened to have the name Granny's so the other shop owners we had been to assumed this was the one we were looking for.  I was a little disapointed because Grannies Attic had thimbleberries and none of the other shops carried her line. :(  This was small but did have some fabric lines to choose from.

Colonial Quilts
11710 Largo Drive
Savannah, GA
I found this one small also but did have some neat things to look at.

The Guild
1109 E Hwy 80
Pooler, GA
This one was small too and really not much supply of any one craft.

Fabrika
140 Abercorn St.
Savannah, GA
This was the one I went to yesterday with my hubby (he had the day off)  by far was the smallest I had ever been in with no selection at all and no personality.  I would not visit again.

Sew Much More
4831 A Augusta Rd.
Garden City, GA
This one was the JACKPOT of them all and would visit again and again.  Lots to look at, with a nice selection of fabrics and offers plenty of classes.  The owner said she wanted to make it with plenty of things to look at while shoping and she did that.  Plenty of samples done up to and so pretty.

This quilt was hung up in the back of the classroom and one of my favorites!!  The front has mini scences with each block telling a story in pictures and the back explains the front with real photos of the people who are in the story.  So Cool!!  It is the history of that person's family so she made two quilts and put them together to create this one masterpiece. I can't imagine how many hours she spent on this!  Just beautiful.
So if you are in the neighborhood here are a few shops you can visit and make sure you have enough time to stop at Sew Much More!

Photo Challenge Week 5 & Bonus Pages

I have been working all afternoon trying to get caught up on this photo challenge and I am still not caught up but here are the pages I have done so far.  I didn't want to leave any unfinished pages as I do this book so I had to do the bonus pages too.
Bonus Page: This Is Me
(Pages leading up to the first photo challenge week).
I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the bonus pages at the end of each month.  What I mean by this is that the pages don't fall right into the next month, one side is the back side of the last week's challenge and the next one is the beginning of the next months. I want to make sure that the beginning of the month is behind the months tab divider (jan, feb, mar, etc.) so I had to come up with something to fill these pages.

I didn't want to just do another weekly photo challenge so with some thinking and looking at scrapbook samples I found a page with a lady behind a camera and she labeled it "This is Me" and I loved it!  So I decided to come up with fun ways of me behind the camera and add quotes to these pages.

So this is the page that is next to the one that has a pocket for me to put my photos in before I scrapbook them. I took apart a red rose and glued two rounds of that flower down and added a white ribbon rose flower in the center.

Week 5Sisters  Feb. 5th

This picture was taken on River Street as we browsed all the shops.  I added a bling pink heart on the right which represents my love for her and on the left I added a dot of glue in each purple flower and added pink glitter. I love the cut out photos how fun on the top of the page looks like we are just hanging out, love it!!   Also, this is the updated page see post on Feb.26 for the orginal page I posted before I changed it.

Bonus Page
The left page has a chip board tag and flower and I added the ribbon on it.   There was a boo boo under it from the modge podge so to fix it I added the tag, and love it, so I am loving embelishments!  The quote says: behind the camera recording the memories that make up our lives.

On the right page I added the belt looking embelishment with a bling flower on it and green ribbon.  I used a pink sparkel pen to fill in the word 'photos'.  I think I will do most of these bonus pages in black-n-white so the color of the scrapbooking paper stands out.  the quote says:  Years will pass, times will change, nothing is forever.  But no matter where life leads us....on these pages, we will always be together. Blessings

Sunny Days & Sand Dollars

It has been wonderful the last couple of days sunny and warm and perfect for spending time at the beach.  I spent the afternoon on Friday just sitting in my beach chair and looking at magazines, it was wonderful!  I got my first sunburn of the year and I didn't think it could happen in Feb. but I guess I am in the south and not the north.

Saturday was just as sunny and warm and my hubby and I headed for the beach.  It was really low tide and I mean the lowest we have ever seen so we got to walk to places we hadn't before.

Me and my hubby.

On normal days this is all under water.

Some places when we walked we would sink past our ankles and that was weird.

Then I spotted what I thought was a horseshoe crab but when I got closer it was this large sand dollar!!!
I was so excited because of the size and so wanted to keep it which is what I said I wouldn't do about the starfish.  So I was glad I brought my camera!!!  I wasn't going to bring it at first but decided to bring it now I am sooooo glad it did!
This shot was cool because you can see my hubby taking the picture.

And yes I had to take a foot shot.

I just couldn't get over the size of it since the ones we found before were so much smaller.

It was a wonderful day and we ended it with a steak dinner, a glass of wine, and a log in the fireplace.  Life couldn't get any better.  Blessings

Photo Challenge Week 3 & 4

I now I am a little behind with my photo challenge since I took a break when my sister came and two many things to be done after she left but now I will try to get caught up.  The pictures didn't turn out that great since it was so late in the day and it required a flash so I will change them.

My focus for these two pages are  on snow since it had been talked about so much on the news and since I am originally from the north.

Week 3Blue Toe Polish & Snowflakes Jan 22nd
I own these two beautiful tree top snowflakes that I use as decor during the winter and thought I would be a nice backdrop to my feet.  If anyone knows me I am one to take pictures of my feet and anyones feet that are with me at the time I bring my camera out. :)  I am not really sure when it started but it is something that has stuck with me so you will see plenty of feet.

Last year I did a picture like this with red toe polish for cmas and thought since it is about snow I decided to paint my toenails blue and paint snowflakes on them.  So the birth of the page. On the page on the left I wrote about the color blue representing snow and on the right I wrote a poem.  I also added some bling and stickers it turned out so cool especially when I cut around my feet to remove the snowflake it just made my feet stand out.

The text says: Those we love are the snowflakes of life.  None are the same, each is beautiful, and all bring something special to our world.

Week 4Create Sand Angels Jan. 29th
This page's idea came from my grand kids when pictures were sent to me on them building a snowman and making snow angels.  I thought we may not have snow but we do have white fine sand so to the beach I went with my hubby and camera.  I am so glad that he is willing to participate in my adventures! :)   I just love the circle snowflake with my cutout picture in it and with more bling around it. I did forget to and the words Sand Angels under the word Create so I will change photo when I complete.

The text says: On the news all they are talking about is all he snow stroms in the north but here in Savannah, GA we only have cold and cloudy days.  My hubby and I went to Tybee Island because I wanted to make a sand angel for my photo challenge but the funny thing was when we got there it stared to snow.  Now how cool is that?  It was high tide so there really wasn't a beach to speak of so I made my way to the path leading up to the shore and took of my shoes, laid down and began to move my arms and legs while my hubby began to take pictures.  Can you imaging that scene?  Then wa-la angel!  Mission accomplished.

I will post week 5 & 6 when I complete them and then on to the art journal challenge.  Thanks for stopping by and blessings to you.

Valentine Sweets

This is the first year that I have made heart shaped desserts for our valentine dinner and I think it is the beginning of a new tradition.

I started out making brownies with a new heart shaped cupcake pan and a red velvet cake in a heart shaped pan.  I added pecans and raspberry preserves to the brownies and almonds and almond extract to the red velvet cake.  I really enjoyed placing them on their pretty plates and putting a layer of powdered sugar to dress them up then putting them on the table.

I kept the table pretty plain this year since a lot of my pretty things are still packed away until we get our kitchen done.  The theme was clear glass with a touch of color in the center of the table from my heart shaped basket with rose petals in it,  a porcelain figurine of a girl giving the boy a kiss, and three silk roses that my husband bought me this year. I hope you enjoy the process as much at I did.

Remember this rose plate from my post on my decor here is a closer look at it cleaned up and ready for the brownies.

I put the raspberry preserves just on top.

I was so glad that the cake came out as nice as it did but next time I think I would add more extract and maybe some dried cranberries since I didn't use a frosting.

The reason for the figurine is because I remember the first time I tried to kiss my husband when we just started dating and this shows the girl kissing the boy which tells it all.

We were ice skating on Hiawatha Creek in Minnesota and we were under a bridge one night when I kinda tried to kiss him, well you know he got nervous and skated away!   Wwe were only 13 and 14 years old and really never kissed anyone let alone someone you liked so I could see why he skated away but I really wanted to kiss him.  Well, since we have been together for 33yrs I can tell you we did kiss later after we practiced some sitting on the floor in my moms kitchen.  How funny to think that I was teaching him like I new but I guess it worked.

The table looked so pretty with all its clear glass a pretty desserts.
I loved the cards we both picked out because of the overall beauty of them together and all the red glitter which your really can't see in the picture.  Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day.

I fell in love with you the second I laid eyes on you, it had nothing to do with the way you looked, there was something in your eyes, then I found out what was in your heart.
